I couldn’t believe it when I slipped the word “bloody” past my editor. I was sure it wouldn’t make it through the copy checkers at RBMA, but it did. Of course, the word was only really rude for a couple of centuries (it was fine before the mid 18th century) and is very mild, even in England, now.
