Here Comes the Sun

This is a bit off-topic, but I wanted to mention a fabulous art installation on St Kilda Esplanade. Yesterday was a glorious 28 degrees centrigrade, so I took a walk through the botanic gardens, up Acland Street (where the lines for ice cream were crazy long) and up to Fitzroy St (where they weren’t). Then I headed down to the seafront and explored the inner solar system on a one billionth scale. I got as far as Mars, but here are a couple of pics of the start: the sun.

That’s all for a week or so, as I take a break, visiting boyf and dog in NZ.

  1. Cool! We did something like this in 3rd grade with our awesome teacher Mrs. Woods out in the school field with a yellow ball for the sun and pins for the planets. But we could only fit maybe three planets onto the field, and Mrs. Woods told us Pluto would be some miles away near the Potomac River. I was impressed.

  2. Stay tuned: I got as far as Uranus today. I still don’t know how you are supposed to say that without it sounding rude, but no need to worry for the blog…
