Putting a “no junk mail” sign above my letter box has cut down the amount of fliers I get dramatically. Anyone who ignores the sign gets a rather cross email, phone call, or text. I was incredulous to get an A4 flier (soy inks on recycled paper, but still!) from a member of the green party the other day and I texted her to suggest she of all people should know better. They should be concentrating on other ways of spreading the message like old-fashioned door-knocking, or new-fashioned web sites/facebook/twitter!
Update: The green party member called me to discuss this and said that government legislation exempts political leaflets from being classified as junk mail! Well, not in my book, it doesn’t and the green party should be setting a standard above other politicians!
