Going to Hell in a Handcart is Not Allowed

A good chat with BB this morning and most of my big batch of roughs got through. One of the exceptions was the following. You can’t mention hell in the comics. Heaven is fine. You can show hell, but you can’t talk about it in any kind of flippant way. Just one more reason newspaper comics are in the Dark Ages. I can only imagine the kind of readers who would object to this strip are the kind who think television is the work of the Devil. Okay, they might be right on that point.

The world is going to hell in a handcart

Oh and the American saying uses “handbasket” and not “handcart”. Now that is ridiculous – you’re never going to get anywhere in a basket! tch.
