Ban Popcorn in Cinemas!

This cartoon comes from the fact that the sound of people eating popcorn in the cinema is really annoying. That repetitive crunch that goes on for far too long. People are still eating from their enormous buckets when the rest of us have long finished our reasonable snacks (choc-topped English toffee icecream being my current fave) in the previews. Some buckets are so huge they last the entire film. Criminal.

Oh and the cinema pictured is my local, the wonderful Classic in Elsternwick. Saw Mary and Max there this week and, as my friend, Pearl put it, it was “more Australian than ‘Australia'”.

  1. I loved this comic…so cute!

But…ban popcorn at the movies? Sacrilege!

  2. That is how insidious this evil is. Firstly, the cinema marks it up about 1000%, secondly, they ruin good, natural food with fake butter and thirdly, the servings are so large that people eat more than they should and for longer than is bearable in a setting that should be QUIET and not filled with the sound of popcorn munching.

    There.
