I posted before about onehundredmonths.org 7 months ago – boy time flies! Although it is a worry that we are getting closer to the point that global emissions must peak before they rapidly decline (to avoid a rise of more than two degrees in average global temperature), I am encouraged that more and more people seem to care.
The bugger is that politicians don’t seem to be keeping up with the informed public. The G8 summit takes place this week in Italy and it seems that Canada, Japan and Russia will try to preven an international agreement on the 2 degrees limit. The US is still wavering and strong leadership is needed to ensure other countries are motivated to commit to a strong climate treaty at the Copenhagen meeting in December.
You can join the call for a strong climate treaty by signing a worldwide petition here. It will be delivered this Thursday.
