In memory of Maurice Udall
When I wrote this cartoon, I wanted the bench to be in memory of someone who was a friend of the environment and the Arctic region in particular. He was instrumental in protecting 100 million acres of Alaska as national parks, for future generations to enjoy. A politician who thought ahead and didn’t implore us to “drill, baby, drill”.
December 12 is the anniversary of his death. I wasn’t able to publish the strip on this date due to the Christmas series, but Mo Udall, rest in peace.
He was also known for having a good sense of humor.
